HVR Energy establishes its Advisory Board, bringing together leading figures from the energy, business and regulatory sectors

HVR Energy has established its Advisory Board with the aim of strengthening strategic decision-making in energy regulation, industrial partnerships and the deployment of hydrogen solutions in Spain. The new body brings together five highly prominent figures from the energy and business ecosystem: Vicente López-Ibor Mayor, Philippe Esposito, Isabel Tocino, José Alberto González-Ruiz and Pedro Cruz.

To achieve this, we are bringing in strategic and business expertise, together with extensive experience in corporate governance, to complement our executive team.”

Members of the Advisory Board

• Vicente López-Ibor Mayor. Chairman of HVR Energy’s Advisory Board, he holds a PhD in Law and is a graduate of Harvard Business School (HBS) and IESE. He has served as a Commissioner of Spain’s National Energy Commission and as Special Adviser to the European Commissioner for Energy. He is also a founding partner of EJI López-Ibor Mayor Abogados. He was the founding Chairman of Lightsource Energy and currently chairs energy initiatives such as FFV-Octopus in the business sector and EFELA, the European Federation of Energy Law Associations, in the regulatory and legal field. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Planet First Partners.

• Philippe Esposito. After practising law for 20 years at prestigious firms in France and Spain, he began his entrepreneurial career with Dhamma Energy, which was subsequently acquired by ENI and integrated into Plenitude and DH2. Co-founder and Chairman of DH2 Energy and Dhamma Blue, he has extensive experience in renewable energy, ranging from solar power and green hydrogen to the design and construction of sustainable vessels. Esposito leads key energy transition initiatives in Spain, France and Latin America, combining innovation, sustainability and industrial development.

• Isabel Tocino. A PhD in Law, university lecturer, IESE graduate, senior executive and board member, she has held prominent roles in public life, including Member of the Spanish Congress of Deputies, Spain’s first female Minister for the Environment from 1996 to 2000, Chair of the Joint Congress-Senate Committee of the Spanish Parliament and member of the Council of State, among other senior public and institutional positions.

  Isabel Tocino also has an extensive and distinguished career in the business sector, both nationally and internationally, serving on the boards of companies in the financial, energy and technology sectors, including Banco Santander, Banco Pastor, Enagás and Ence, among other relevant activities.

• José Alberto González-Ruiz. An economist with an MBA from IE, he is a senior executive with extensive experience in the management and leadership of business organisations in both Spain and the European Union. He has held senior positions at Altadis in the EU, served as Chairman of Segittur and CEO of Setesa, and was Secretary General of Cepyme. He currently serves as Secretary General of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE), among other responsibilities.

• Pedro Cruz. An economist, MBA graduate and lecturer in business management, he has built a distinguished executive career with extensive experience in the retail sector, primarily at El Corte Inglés, where he has held various senior management positions, including Regional Managing Director for Andalusia. He has also held prominent institutional roles within the National Association of Large Retail Companies (ANGED). In addition, he has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of Employers of Andalusia, among other relevant positions.

• María José Gómez Serrano. Secretary of HVR Energy’s Advisory Board. A lawyer specialising in public law and regulation, she has a strong institutional and legal background. She is a partner at EJI López-Ibor Abogados, where she advises companies and organisations on energy, sustainability and regulatory matters. She also serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors of several companies operating across different sectors, including the energy sector.
