The current Managing Director joins the company’s Board of Directors, strengthening the governance of one of Spain’s leading operators in green hydrogen infrastructure.
HVR Energy, a Spanish company specialising in the development and operation of green hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, has announced the appointment of Santiago Ramas López as a new member of the company’s Board of Directors. Ramas, who has served as Managing Director of the company since early 2025, now joins HVR Energy’s Board of Directors, strengthening strategic decision-making at a key stage in the deployment of renewable hydrogen for mobility in Spain and across Europe.
The appointment comes at a time of significant expansion for the company, which is progressing with its roadmap to achieve 75 operational hydrogen refuelling stations by 2030, in line with the requirements of the European Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR). The company has also recently strengthened its governance structure through the creation of an Advisory Board comprising prominent figures from the energy and business sectors, including Vicente López-Ibor Mayor, Isabel Tocino, Philippe Esposito, José Alberto González-Ruiz and Pedro Cruz.
A career dedicated to the energy transition
With an MBA from IESE Business School, Santiago Ramas has more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur in the service station and clean technology sectors. Before joining HVR Energy, he led Wolftank Iberia for several years, the Spanish subsidiary of the group specialising in sustainable infrastructure for zero-emission mobility.
Since taking on the role of Managing Director at HVR Energy, Ramas has driven strategic projects aimed at enabling hydrogen refuelling at existing service stations through a revenue-sharing partnership model for participating service stations.
Commenting on his appointment, Santiago Ramas said: “Taking on this responsibility on the Board is a natural step in our shared project. We are convinced that green hydrogen will play a decisive role in decarbonising heavy-duty and long-distance transport in Spain and Europe. Our commitment is to ensure that HVR Energy continues to be a leading player in this deployment, contributing technology, operational expertise and market insight.”
Luis Felipe Suárez-Olea, Chairman and CEO of HVR Energy, added that Ramas’s appointment to the Board “strengthens the alignment between executive management and corporate governance at a decisive stage for the company, as we combine industrial execution, public support and strategic partnerships to accelerate the deployment of renewable hydrogen.”
