HVR Energy drives hydrogen development in Spain and paves the way for BMW Group testing in the country

HVR Energy is installing an ACTIVA station at BMW Group’s facilities in Miramas, France, and making its infrastructure in Granada available for technical testing with hydrogen-powered vehicles.

BMW Group and HVR Energy, a Spanish company specialising in the development and operation of hydrogen infrastructure for mobility, are advancing their collaboration at a key moment for the development of hydrogen in Europe, with the installation of two hydrogen refuelling stations in Miramas, France, and Granada, Spain.

Against a backdrop in which the lack of infrastructure has so far limited the deployment of hydrogen-powered vehicles in Spain, the development of the network led by HVR Energy is beginning to create new opportunities for international manufacturers such as BMW Group.

As part of this collaboration, HVR Energy will supply and install an ACTIVA station at BMW Group’s facilities in Miramas, France, during the summer of 2026, as well as another station in Granada, located at an existing service station in the city.

HVR Energy’s station is a compact, modular solution designed to facilitate the deployment of hydrogen infrastructure across different locations. It can support different refuelling configurations tailored to the needs of both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles, making it a highly flexible solution.

HVR Energy’s expansion plan envisages the progressive growth of its network in Spain, aligned with the European targets for 2030 and supported by public funding programmes, with the aim of covering the country’s strategic mobility corridors. This deployment is helping to position Spain as a market with significant potential for hydrogen development in Southern Europe.

This initiative demonstrates how the infrastructure deployment led by HVR Energy is helping to position Spain on the European hydrogen map, enabling domestic and international manufacturers to begin incorporating the country into their technological development plans.
