HVR Energy and H2Duero promote renewable hydrogen mobility in Spain through a strategic agreement

HVR Energy and H2Duero, a company owned 80% by Redexis and 20% by SOMACYL, have today formalised a strategic agreement in Madrid that will enable the start of renewable hydrogen production, compression and loading at the plant located in the Garray Environmental Business Park in Soria.

This agreement marks the beginning of a pioneering collaboration in Spain that will help guarantee the supply of renewable hydrogen and accelerate the deployment of HVR Energy’s hydrogen refuelling network across the country.

A pioneering model tailored to an emerging market

The agreement is based on a complementary approach, with each party contributing its core capabilities:

H2Duero will lead the production and operation of the infrastructure, including a 3 MW PEM electrolyser capable of producing up to 300 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year, together with the facilities required for its compression and loading.

HVR Energy will contribute its hydrogen refuelling network and high-pressure storage logistics model, optimising investment and operating costs while accelerating the delivery of hydrogen to refuelling stations. The company will also make available the forecast demand associated with its plan to deploy 75 hydrogen refuelling stations across Spain.

This approach enables both companies to leverage their assets, stimulate demand and support the adoption of renewable hydrogen in the mobility sector.

A project paving the way for renewable hydrogen in Spain

The agreement represents a turning point for the development of hydrogen in Spain by establishing a structured partnership between producers and distributors that effectively aligns production, logistics and infrastructure with specific, planned demand.

The commitment ensures that part of H2Duero’s production will be allocated to supporting the decarbonisation of transport, laying the foundations for the future scalability of renewable hydrogen.
